My current works are self-portrait drawings of artist that influence my creativity using charcoal / graphite on paper. These drawings are meticulously-rendered that uses dramatic and gestural expressions as well as visceral symbolisms or “esthetics” within personal and universal narratives.

I create my self-portrait drawings out of a compulsion to document eternal conversations between the artists’ music and the listeners’ interpretation. By using the traditional medium of charcoal on paper, I purposefully go through the meticulous process of handling charcoal to work around ever mark that is made. Good or bad.

This also helps to achieve a wide range of saturation within my self portraits— creating a more dramatic and emotional feel within each shadow and highlight.
